インターネットが普及し、個人のデータを分析することで、各人に最も最適な情報を届けることができる時代となりました。ネット上では顕著なように、人によって快適と思う価値観は異なります。実世界においてはどうでしょうか。
2018年秋、NYマンハッタンに多く見られた SCAFFOLDING (足場) 内に、「歩く」という一様な行動以外の選択を、各人の感性によって如何に引き出すことが出来るのか、実験を行いました。
歩道はあくまで目的地までのパスとしての機能をもちますが、もし歩道が ”PASS” から “PLACE” に変わり得る仕掛けがあれば、都市の移動空間はより豊かなものになるかもしれません。
Adding Color to Transit Spaces with Pedestrian Individuality
In an era where the internet is ubiquitous and personal data can be analyzed to deliver the most optimal information to each individual, our preferences for what we consider comfortable can vary significantly, as clearly seen online. But what about in the real world?
In the fall of 2018, we conducted an experiment in the scaffolding of Manhattan, New York. The goal was to explore how we could elicit choices beyond the uniform action of walking, drawn from the individual sensibilities of each passerby.
While sidewalks primarily function as pathways to a destination, if there were a mechanism to transform these pathways from merely being a "PASS" to a "PLACE," the urban transit spaces could become enriched, turning everyday routes into vibrant arenas of personal expression and interaction.
